UPDATE: 12/05/2017 – the checkbox to delete media files when deleting chats doesn’t always work. Users are encouraged to delete the WhatsApp directory on the SD card using a file manager to make sure all media files are removed. Facebook has refused to acknowledge this as a security issue and has not plans to fix it.
